About Me

Picture
I chose to begin doula work after a transformative birth experience in 2006.  Through the struggle of birthing my son, a mother was born.  As a doula, I guard the sacredness of your birth, bringing the ancient tradition of the birthing woman as a goddess into your place of birth.

I worked for nine years at the Somerset Hills YMCA as the Director of Family Services and Director of Community Outreach.  During my time at the YMCA,  I have run woman's groups, conducted baby-wearing classes, facilitated adventure-based counseling groups, and taught meditation and drumming.  I completed my formal education in 1999 with a BA from Rutgers in Psychology and Communication.  I received my doula certification from Childbirth International.  Recently, I completed a two year program in Shamanic Healing Arts, and have been working in a Shamanic healing community for eight years.  I am a member of ICAN, DONA, Trust Birth, and La Leche League.. As an ordained non-denominational minister, I find joy in facilitating marriages, baby-naming ceremonies, Blessingways, and other rites of passage. I enjoy drumming and dancing, writing and reading.  I volunteer on the Board of Directors for Keeping Babies Safe  and the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault.  I am happiest atop a horse, alone on a wooded trail.  I am mother to4-year-old Liam Vincent and twin babies Mateo and Sebastian.  My family lives in a cozy, bi-cultural home in Raritan, NJ.
